eFTI creates a framework for the digitalisation of freight transport information

The eFTI project aims to implement a Europe-wide data standard and procedure to exchange electronic freight transport information. Authorities monitoring the movement of goods are obliged to accept and receive regulatory freight transport information in electronic form in Europe. This is a new method of transmitting electronic freight transport information between authorities and economic operators.

EU cooperation

eFTI4EU was launched in June 2023. In this project, a total of nine EU countries are co-developing and piloting the implementation of eFTI in practice. The aim is to ensure the operability of eFTI in the EU following its entry into force in 2026.

Follow Fintraffic’s progress in implementing the project

The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom has commissioned Fintraffic to build the necessary system services and implement the eFTI services related to the use of the system. The acquisition and building of the service as well as stakeholder work began in early 2023. Traficom is a competent authority supervising the implementation of eFTI in Finland, and Fintraffic is the realiser and administrator of system services within the project.
